Hangar Rockin 2k11

[ Hangar Rockin | St. Stephan | 2-3.07.2011]

It was our first time at the Hangar… and a big one !

The road to St. Stephan is really beautiful, through Bulle-Charmey-Jaun-Zweisimmen. The alps in summer offer some amazing landscapes to discover on two-wheels. Even St. Stephan, which is trapped in the valley with glaciers at the end of it.

The parking is divided in two : vehicles until ’68 and scooters (mostly Vespa), vehicles until ’60 and scooters until ’68. But you can find also some nice pieces along the public parking ! The camera burned the whole afternoon and the battery suffered severely ! Only but eye-candy bikes, from the most radical to true oldies. Cars were well represented too, with hot rods, rat rods, leadsleds, muscles and classics.

Then time for races : A mano a mano on a 1/8 mile track ! Cars, motorcycles and vespa dueled on the runway. While pinstriping artists and merchandising were the attractions at the village.

Saturday’s evening offered great live shows. Especially Voola and the Jayhawks, playing an hypnotizing voodoo rythm’n'blues. JD McPherson and his band gave a nice rock’n'roll gig too afterwards !

While going back home on sunday morning, modern cars just look so boring !

Ride to Love

[Col des Mosses | 26.06.2011]

While on the road through the Alps, the sweet feeling of freedom kind of remind me one of the greatest text I read about riding, taken from the DicE #37…

“Ok man, total stream of conscience. Tried to sort of write down what I think about while on the bike.

Live to Ride, Ride to Live. Looking at the phrase nowadays can seem a little packaged and superficial. Watered down. I prefer this better. Love to Ride, Ride to Love.

We live in a world where things we love so much can get gobbled up by the masses and soon become so watered down as to find ourselves bitter about the future. Conformity is a bitch, all shapes and sizes of it, doesn’t matter the type. Conform is a dirty word. We may struggle every day, with work, relationships, bills, the stresses of life in general. Who are we ? Why are we here ? Trust, friendship, love, what does it all mean ?

Love to Ride

I remember that feeling of being abandoned, needing a love so bad you physically hurt. Oh, but I remember that feeling when a brother hugs you and tells you it’s good to see you. That feeling of seeing your woman’s smiling face in the morning. Back and forth the mind goes searching the good and the bad. When your woman leaves you, or your dog dies. Fishing with your Dad. Meeting someone for the first time with a warm smile. Seeing your child’s face. Feelings that defy description. Oh, that is what we search for. Chills up the spine, goose bumps, that lump in the throat, tear in the eye. Sometimes, there’s nothing, nothing but feelings. Those feelings are everything and nothing all at the same time. Time stands still, and speeds up, or doesn’t even exist. Nothing matters but this moment. Nothing IS but now. Searching for what ? Dreams ? Connections ? Meaning ? Nothing ? Finding everything. Now is all we have. A machine, two wheels and a motor, it carries the body, mind, and spirit places. Some places are tangible, but the places that really matter are hopeful, soulful, bountiful, beautiful, spiritual, thoughtful and meaningful. Is it possible that 2 wheels can make you a better person ? Yes, yes it can. Ride to Love

Wheels Fest 2k11

[Lignières | 18-19.06.2011]

The hell of a weekend ! It started really bad with the worse weather you could expect. Raining cats and fucking dawgs at saturday morning. We had to wait a bit to move to Lignières, but we finally reached the place dry and safe.

We set our camp on the field. Quite alone due to the weather. People weren’t up to come there on saturday to be washed by the rain. Sunday had a better luck Hopefully, the sun showed few times, even if always quickly followed by rain. And this lasts during the whole weekend ! Kind of tiring !

A bad weather could not ruin everything. We had great time watching the drifters on the track, a nice MTX’s race with both adults and kids, skate-roller-bmx tricks on the big air. Too bad for MTX freestyler, the wind kept strong through the two days and they could land only few airs. Nice spots at the village, especially the VW’s oldies, some lowriders, few bikes from Bad Boys Motorcycles and others, two custom bicycles’ stalls with Ocobike & BCBC. And last but not least, the Fuel Girls offered many shows while rubber were burned by drifters’ cars and bikes on the stage.

Above all, we had some great laughs at the camp. Kind of creepy at night with the wind and sometimes some rain. But we had music, beers and food : enough to entertain us until we went sleeping.

The organizer’s crew did a wonderful job, unfortunately the weather played a bad part in the affair !

Nevertheless, Wheels Fest 2012, here we come !

Open House – 38SPL, Old School Choppers Inc.

[Carrières du Lessus | Saint-Triphon]

Great meeting organised by the SL38 team, where a lot of people showed up, as well as some other team like Vida Loca Choppers & Bad Boys Motorcycles, and answered to the invitation to share stories and stuff about motorcycles. The old-school contest gathered some magnificent bikes, with either original pieces or a whole theme look. The idea was pretty nice and hopefully we will get another session next year !

Wheels Fest 2011 – Press Conference

[Wheels Fest | 18-19.06.2011]

Things are getting serious. Last Wednesday, the WF’s team and some of the participants-exhibitors gave a glimpse of what will entertain us the whole weekend. Prepare yourself to smell road’s scent and burned tires.

The Wolfpack

[First Friday Run | F-M]

Weather was perfect, then more people came to the second run and we were probably more than 100. Unfortunately, the run coincided with the carnival’s day in the city. It was a really pain to get out of the heavy traffic until Lutry, where the pack were split in two parts. We waited the others at Saint-Saphorin and then took the road to Forel, via Chexbres. The column was impressive, in particular while in the long lines ! We then took Lausanne’s backcountry little roads (Mézières, Le Mont, Cheseaux) and finally got near we arrived last time. Bad time though, cuz a hit between a safety bike and a car happened less than a kilometer to the goal.  Dunno how it happened since I was at the back but a guy from other club jumped at the car driver, while few others tried to stop him. Hopefully no one’s been hurt, too much…

Note to myself for the next time : don’t forget to formatte my camera’s memory card when its full before going to the run…

Out in the Cold

[Jura Run | M]

Ain’t no better way to start the month with a run through one Jura’s valley, La Sagne, trapped between Le Locle and Neuchâtel, after the famous Val de Travers. Even if it’s already May, it was a bit cold in the morning… The way back went through some really beautiful places, mostly the path between Saint-Imier and Dombresson. And then you find so many long straight lines where you can speed up… a wonderful one !

Fire Water Burn

[HS 36 | S-B-M]

Time to go back to essentials. After years of desertion, we’re back to our roots at the HS-36′s skatepark at Sevelin-Lausanne ! Benoit’s already taking down miniramp and the street ! And this rad song from the Gang was played almost everytime we rode there…
